EQUIS and AMBA accreditations

Hull University Business School continues to achieve independent recognition for its quality in teaching and learning by becoming one of only 15 schools in the UK to be awarded both EQUIS and AMBA - two of the leading global accreditation systems for business schools.

EQUIS

Awarded EQUIS from the European Foundation for Management Development - the leading international accreditation body for business schools - Hull University Business School forms part of a select group of UK accredited schools, including, Cass, Cranfield, Leeds and Manchester, and a global community of 105 business schools in 30 countries worldwide.

AMBA

Hull University Business School's flagship MBA programme has been accredited by the Association of MBAs - the internationally recognised standard for all MBA programmes. As members of AMBA, the school joins a network of established business schools committed to developing the business leaders of tomorrow.

Professor Mike Jackson, Dean of Hull University Business School is clear about the benefits of gaining EQUIS and AMBA accreditation.

'Hull University Business School is delighted to have received both EQUIS and AMBA accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to delivering the very best in teaching quality and the learning environment. As the leading international system of quality assessment, EQUIS is the benchmark for quality in business and management education to which we all strive. Similarly, AMBA is the internationally recognised standard for all MBA programmes.

Thanks to the rigorous accreditation processes and the high standards set, the school is well positioned to further its research, enhance the quality of its teaching and learning, and increase its links with the corporate world - providing our graduates with an internationally recognised qualification, and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to compete in the global business environment.'

Excellent learning, teaching and research

The University of Hull has long been recognised for the high standards and quality of its teaching, and assessment of the school’s business and management programmes by the UK Quality Assurance Agency further supported this, grading the provisions as ‘excellent’ and noting :

bullet‘impressive academic and pastoral support provided to assist Masters students’
bullet‘[Masters] students showed excellent achievement, particularly in their dissertations’
bullet‘an excellent range of teaching and learning resources for business and management programmes’
bullet‘strong emphasis on subject-specific knowledge and key transferable skills…both students and employers value these skills’
bullet‘consistent pattern of success in employment rates’

In the last Research Assessment Exercise (2001) the Business School received an excellent rating of ‘4’, classifying its research as of national and international excellence. Since that time research activity has further expanded and seven leading international business and management journals are now edited from the school.

Backed by extensive learning resources, a friendly and supportive learning environment and effective career advice and development, an MBA from Hull’s Business School has already proven its worth through the career and earnings progression of its graduates.
